There are moments in every life when the illusions of pretense and convention need to be blasted away.  We live in a time of great danger from a variety of sources. There are three major crises which threaten to converge and destroy what we call civilization; climate change, peak oil, and the instability of  neo-liberal economics.  Each one of these alone would be sufficient to derail our way of life, but the three together could combine to change completely our "way of life" more than any Muslim Terrorism, and perhaps within the next 20-30 years.  And yet, no one is paying attention.  That is why the need to drop all pretense, and come to grips with what is coming our way.
